Collaborative Planting Action

This action was organized by Euroscut Açores and Futurismo Azores Adventures, with the support of partner organizations and public entities. On November 28, employees, volunteers and institutional representatives came together to plant native and endemic species at Água de Pau’s viewpoint, strengthening collaboration and launching the first operational phase of the regeneration work on site.

Objectives

Strengthening collective responsibility while restoring native ecosystems at Miradouro de Água de Pau

From coordinated field teams to practical conservation work, this initiative aims to involve companies, NGOs and public entities in the operational launch of the regeneration project. By planting thousands of native and endemic plants and testing on-site logistics, we are preparing the area to become a future ecological park and a living space for education and participation.

Know more about this project here.

Impact

On November 28, teams worked together across the terrain to plant 2,812 native and endemic species. Participants opened soil pits, planted trees and shrubs, installed supports, carried out small clean-ups, and supported logistical tasks including equipment management and meal organization.

This first action marked an important step in restoring a former artificial slope and transforming it into a functional ecological space.

Human participation:

  • 79 people engaged directly in field work
  • ~90 participants including the shared meal moment

Qualitative results:

  • Strengthened partnerships and institutional collaboration
  • Creation of a shared emotional connection with the project
  • Reference action for future community events

Supported UN Global Goals

This initiative directly contributed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals #13, #15 and #17. By uniting Euroscut Açores, Futurismo Azores Adventures, Sociedade Portuguesa para o Estudo das Aves, Casermel, Greenner Act, and institutional partners from the Secretaria Regional do Turismo, Mobilidade e Infraestruturas, the Direção Regional dos Recursos Florestais, the Secretaria Regional da Agricultura e Alimentação, and the local Parish Council, the project drives climate action, restores native biodiversity, and strengthens collaborative sustainability efforts across the region.
