No interior deste \u00f3rg\u00e3o, encontra-se principalmente espermacete, uma subst\u00e2ncia cerosa que deu o nome ao cachalote. Estes precisam de comer regularmente e em grandes quantidades. Para resistir ao ambiente adverso, os cachalotes comem cerca de 3% do seu peso corporal todos os dias! Isto equivale a cerca de 1 tonelada de presas por dia. \u00c9 muito! H\u00e1 algumas indica\u00e7\u00f5es de que as lulas gigantes podem ser as presas preferidas dos cachalotes, embora estes tamb\u00e9m n\u00e3o ignorem uma pequena lula para petiscar pelo meio. As lulas gigantes pesam at\u00e9 uma tonelada e podem medir mais de 12 metros, pelo que podem alimentar um cachalote melhor do que as lulas de tamanho pequeno. No entanto, tamb\u00e9m n\u00e3o desistem indefesas. V\u00e1rios cachalotes podem ser encontrados com marcas \u00e0 volta da cabe\u00e7a, resultantes das lutas desesperadas das lulas gigantes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-ce4ac980-cf36-48d7-aea9-9e37758c07c3\">Em geral, os cachalotes comem entre 400 e 800 lulas por dia, consoante o tamanho e o sucesso da ca\u00e7a.
