Marine Biologists' Coordinator

Mariana grew up on Terceira Island and moved to São Miguel to pursue her degree in Marine Biology. While studying in 2009, she discovered her passion for the sea through a summer job in whale watching. After completing her Master’s in Marine Sciences in Lisbon, with a thesis on Oceanic Fronts and the spatial distribution of baleen whales, she joined Futurismo in 2015. In her free time, she enjoys hiking with her dogs, sports, and beach outings.

Nelson Santos

Executive Director

Nelson Santos, the Executive Manager at Futurismo, brings extensive management experience with a focus on agile processes, quick decision-making, and staff well-being. Although new to the tourism sector, Nelson's emphasis on operational efficiency and nurturing a positive work environment has significantly impacted the company's growth. His fresh perspective and commitment to both excellence and innovation are reshaping Futurismo, setting a new standard for management within the adventure tourism industry.

David Rodrigues

Photographer & Skipper

Born on Pico Island, has been a passionate seafarer since childhood, learning the ropes of commercial fishing from his father. At 17, he joined the Portuguese Navy, where he expanded his academic knowledge, including studying photography at the Instituto Português de Fotografia. Since 2017, David has been a versatile member of Futurismo, excelling as both a senior photographer and skipper. His dedication to the sea and to the guests he guides is evident in his work, blending art and maritime expertise seamlessly.

Ana Vieira

Operations Manager

With a degree in Modern and Applied Linguistics, has been a key member of Futurismo for many years. As the Operations Manager, she oversees reservations, manages the main store, and ensures all back-office operations run smoothly for seamless activities. Known for her meticulous planning and attention to detail, Ana plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service. Passionate about travel, she explores the world whenever she gets the chance, enriching her global perspective.
