Sérgio Matos, a practical and creative thinker, joined Futurismo Azores Adventures in 2022 after completing his degree. Living in São Miguel’s rural countryside, Sérgio combines his passion for tourism development with his skills as a graphic designer in his free time. Proudly caring for the happiest cows in the Azores, Sérgio brings a unique blend of creativity and efficiency to his work, enhancing the tourism experience on the island.

Stanymir Zekov, originally from Bulgaria, has been a hardworking and dedicated skipper with Futurismo Azores Adventures since 2019. Known for his honesty and a grumbling sense of humor, Stanymir brings both skill and personality to his role. Despite his love for the Azores, his favorite place in the world remains Burgas. Stanymir’s commitment and lively character make every journey on the water an enjoyable experience.

Born in Viseu, holds a master’s degree in Marine Biology from Universidade do Algarve and a bachelor’s in Biology from Universidade de Lisboa. She moved to the Azores in 2020 and has been a vibrant part of Futurismo Azores Adventures since 2021. Known for her humor and social nature, Andreia is a beloved team member who brings enthusiasm and expertise to her work, enhancing the experiences of both her colleagues and guests.

Originally from Germany, Jennifer joined Futurismo in São Miguel island in 2011. After some time away, she returned to guide tours on Pico Island, then moved back to São Miguel. Authentic and passionate about nature, Jennifer’s favorite places are where water meets mountains. A skilled woodworker, she crafted nearly all the furniture in her home herself. Her dedication and hands-on approach make her a key part of the team, blending practicality with a deep love for the natural world.

An experienced Azorean lookout, has been a vital part of Futurismo since 2006. Renowned for his diligence and trustworthiness, Roberto is one of the most respected members of the team. As the company’s longest-serving lookout, his keen eyes spot whales and dolphins over 45 km from the coast, ensuring successful wildlife encounters during tours. In his free time, Roberto enjoys fishing, further connecting with the sea that shapes his life and work.

An Azorean marine biologist based in São Miguel, is known for her vibrant personality and social nature. A graduate of Universidade dos Açores, Maria’s scientific articles on cetaceans stand out for their blend of expertise and accessibility. Her joyful approach makes complex topics engaging, creating an enjoyable reading experience. A lover of good vibes and a lively party girl, Maria brings energy and enthusiasm to both her work and social life.

Affectionately known as “Nunopedia,” has been a nature guide with Futurismo since 2010. Originally from São Miguel Island, Nuno is a big guy with a vast knowledge of the Azores’ flora, fauna, history, and economy. His adventurous spirit has led him to become experienced in radical sports, including canyoning, rock climbing, and mountain biking. A reserved yet passionate individual, Nuno is happiest wherever he feels good, bringing a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to his guiding role.

Born on Pico Island, has been a passionate seafarer since childhood, learning the ropes of commercial fishing from his father. At 17, he joined the Portuguese Navy, where he expanded his academic knowledge, including studying photography at the Instituto Português de Fotografia. Since 2017, David has been a versatile member of Futurismo, excelling as both a senior photographer and skipper. His dedication to the sea and to the guests he guides is evident in his work, blending art and maritime expertise seamlessly.

Born in Madrid, Spain, he graduated in Tourism from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. His Azorean adventure began in 2016 with an internship at the Priolo Environmental Center in São Miguel. In 2018, he became a tour guide, leading van/jeep tours and hikes before joining Futurismo in April 2022. Passionate about nature, he enjoys hiking, cycling, and whale watching in his free time. He is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, making him a versatile guide.

A research biologist from Santiago do Cacém, Setúbal, is currently contributing to the K2D project at the University of the Azores. With a background that includes a degree in Biology from Universidade de Lisboa and a Master’s in Marine Biology from Universiteit Gent, Margarida has gained diverse experience in Italy, the Netherlands, Faro, Setúbal, and now the Azores since 2022. Known for her empathy and focus, she is a beloved team member dedicated to advancing ecological research.

A Spanish marine biologist, joined Futurismo in 2023. Known for her empathy, easy smile, and a touch of shyness, Alba is a team player who approaches her work with a spirit of adventure. Her collaborative nature and dedication to marine biology make her a valued member of the team, contributing to the shared mission of exploring and protecting the marine environment.

Originally from Galicia, joined the Azores in 2008 to complete her degree in Marine Biology and was immediately captivated by the islands. She began working with Futurismo in 2009, later returning to Spain for further studies in Oceanography and Biodiversity. Now an external consultant for Futurismo’s marine projects, Laura has completed her PhD using data collected by Futurismo, focusing on the ecology of whales and dolphins around São Miguel. Her nearly decade-long dedication to the company continues to drive her passion for marine research.

Currently pursuing her Master’s in Marine Biology at Universidade dos Açores, has been part of the Azorean community since 2021 and joined Futurismo in 2022. With a background from Universidade do Algarve, Jessica is known for her empathetic and communicative nature, combined with a strong sense of honesty and affirmation. Her ability to connect with others and her dedication to marine science make her an integral part of both the academic and professional teams she collaborates with.

A dedicated skipper based in Lajes do Pico, has been with Futurismo  since 2022. His passion for marine wildlife, coupled with his hard work and empathetic nature, makes him an enthusiastic guide on the waters around Pico Island. Cesar’s commitment to exploring and protecting the marine environment is evident in every expedition, where he shares his deep love for the ocean with those on board.

A nature guide in São Miguel with Futurismo since 2022, brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles in the airline industry. With a background as a Customer Care Specialist at Azores Airlines and a Sales Representative at euroAtlantic Airways, Maria excels in customer service and sales. Known for her affirmative and focused approach, she is also passionate about “dark tourism”, exploring cemeteries and historical sites. Her direct and engaging manner makes her an effective and knowledgeable guide.

A dedicated Travel Designer at Futurismo since 2014, brings experience from her previous roles at Panazorica and Lares Nossa Senhora dos Anjos. A lover of family, friends, cooking and to play piano, Rita enjoys hosting meals and is a key member of the company’s “party committee,” always fostering a positive team environment. Known for her reliability, focus, and empathy, Rita plays a crucial role in creating memorable travel experiences for clients while nurturing strong team bonds.

An Azorean skipper with Futurismo since 2022, is known for his focus and authenticity. A fitness enthusiast who loves hitting the gym and enjoying a good party, Miguel combines his physical discipline with a strong, empathetic approach to his work. Skilled and straightforward, he brings both expertise and a genuine connection to the guests he guides, making each maritime adventure memorable.

The Business Development Manager at Futurismo  since 2020, is a highly skilled and respected professional despite her young age. Born and raised in the Azores, she brings a deep appreciation for the islands’ natural beauty to her role. With over a decade of experience in tourism, Cátia excels in sales, market prospecting, and developing creative tourism packages. Her passion, focus, and attention to detail make her a key figure in identifying new opportunities and building strong client relationships.

An Azorean accountant with Futurismo since 2021, is known for her persistence and diligence. A graduate of Universidade dos Açores, Liliana has a deep love for her homeland and enjoys spending her free time fishing. Her commitment to her work and her strong connection to the Azorean way of life make her a valuable member of the team, ensuring the financial health of the company while staying grounded in the natural beauty of the islands.

An Azorean marine biologist, is known for his dedication, honesty, and straightforward nature. A true ocean lover, Lucas brings a deep passion for marine life to his work, coupled with a knack for solving mechanical engineering challenges. His transparent approach and problem-solving skills make him a valuable member of any team, as he combines his love for the ocean with a practical mindset to address both biological and technical issues in the field.

Tiago has been the Marketing Manager at Futurismo since 2021. A dedicated and strategic team player, Tiago thrives on detail-oriented tasks, especially when it comes to crafting reports and solving design challenges with his impressive PowerPoint skills. Graduated in Physical Education from Oporto University, Tiago pursued his passion for marketing with a Master’s in Sports Management and an MBA from Universidade dos Açores. His experience spans working in Barcelona and Lisbon before returning to the Azores to lead Futurismo’s digital marketing and e-commerce projects.

An Azorean skipper since 2023, is known for his honesty, hard work, and deep love for the sea. A strong character who despises falsehood, Tito brings dedication and integrity to his role at Futurismo. His passion for the ocean is evident in his commitment to providing safe and memorable experiences on the water.

A Spanish marine biologist with a reserved demeanor, is known for her kindness, empathy, and sweet nature. Despite her shyness, Georgina is a loyal friend and a talented artist, with a passion for drawing as a hobby. She contributed her artistic skills by creating some of the cetacean species illustrations featured on Futurismo’s website. Her blend of scientific expertise and creative talent makes her a valued member of the Futurismo team.

Deeply in love with São Miguel Island, Heidi is a loyal team player who values collaboration and always brings a reserved yet friendly approach to her work. A tall and empathetic ocean lover, Dinis combines his passion for marine life with excellent writing skills to communicate complex ideas effectively. Patrícia’s ability to organize and her commitment to fostering positive relationships make her an essential part of the team, ensuring that both guests and partners have exceptional experiences.

Affectionately known as “Coelho,” is passionate about the sea. Born in northern Portugal, he moved to São Miguel in 2004 and has been part of Futurismo’s lookout team since 2018, playing a crucial role in spotting marine wildlife. Before joining Futurismo, Coelho was a skipper at the Clube Naval de Ponta Delgada, and he also practiced diving and sailing. His professional journey began at 17 as a volunteer in the Portuguese Navy, where he specialized in Communications and served as a First Sailor, traveling extensively across Europe and Africa.

Cristina is the DMC Coordinator at Futurismo, known for her hard work, friendly demeanor, and upbeat attitude. Always in a good mood and ready to have fun, Cristina brings energy and positivity to her role, ensuring smooth operations and a lively work environment. Her ability to balance professionalism with a love for socializing makes her a key figure in the team, contributing both to the company’s success and to its vibrant culture.

Always radiating good vibes, Fabiana is beloved by her colleagues for her positive attitude and ability to connect with everyone she meets. Her vibrant personality and dedication make her an essential part of the team, ensuring that both guests and coworkers have a welcoming and enjoyable experience.

Mariana grew up on Terceira Island and moved to São Miguel to pursue her degree in Marine Biology. While studying in 2009, she discovered her passion for the sea through a summer job in whale watching. After completing her Master’s in Marine Sciences in Lisbon, with a thesis on Oceanic Fronts and the spatial distribution of baleen whales, she joined Futurismo in 2015. In her free time, she enjoys hiking with her dogs, sports, and beach outings.

A dedicated lookout at Futurismo since 2019, is known for his perfectionism and love for São Miguel. Skilled in woodcraft, André finds joy in the craftsmanship of his hobby. Though shy when surrounded by unfamiliar faces, his meticulous nature ensures precision in his work, making him a key contributor to the team’s success in spotting marine wildlife.

Eulália, born on São Miguel Island, graduated in Tourism from the University of the Azores in 2015 and has been a cherished guide with Futurismo ever since. Passionate about nature, she finds joy in the island’s verdant landscapes and stunning lagoons, turning every day into an adventure. Known as “Lalinha” to friends, she always carries a chocolate treat on her walks. When not guiding, she enjoys helping on her family farm, listening to music, watching action series, and traveling.

A dedicated Azorean, has been the Front Office Coordinator at Futurismo since 2019. Known for her honesty, hard work, and friendly demeanor, Ana Rita is passionate about the Azores, where she enjoys drawing and diving in her free time. Her love for the islands and commitment to her role make her an integral part of the team, ensuring guests have a warm and welcoming experience.

A native of São Miguel, has had a passion for the sea from a young age. He began his career in diving and joined Futurismo’s team of biologists in 2016 after completing his degree in Marine Biology. Currently pursuing a Master’s in Biodiversity with a focus on Risso’s dolphins, Rafael loves witnessing the awe in people’s reactions when they see these magnificent species for the first time. His dedication to marine life continues to inspire those he guides.

Dina holds a degree in Social Work and has extensive experience in customer service. Passionate about her work, her main goal is to ensure that visitors have all the information they need to fully enjoy their time on the island. Dina greets everyone with professionalism and a cheerful attitude. She has a love for nature and traveling, which further enhances her ability to connect with guests and provide them with the best recommendations for exploring the island.

A talented videographer known for his shy demeanor, meticulous attention to detail, and exceptional creativity. His highly skilled approach to capturing and crafting visual stories ensures that every project reflects both precision and artistic flair. Álvaro’s ability to blend technical expertise with creative vision makes him a valuable asset in producing captivating and memorable content.

Claudia Silveira is a dedicated Travel Designer known for her attention to detail and calm demeanor. A vegetarian with a good and gentle soul, Claudia approaches her work with care and precision, ensuring that every travel experience she designs is thoughtfully crafted. With a degree in Modern and Applied Linguistics, has been a key member of Futurismo for many years. As the Operations Manager, she oversees reservations, manages the main store, and ensures all back-office operations run smoothly for seamless activities. Known for her meticulous planning and attention to detail, Ana plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service. Passionate about travel, she explores the world whenever she gets the chance, enriching her global perspective.

Meet Rui Rodrigues, a skilled skipper and the dedicated Operations Director at Futurismo Azores Adventures. Originally from Angola, and living in Portugal from a young age, his connection to the sea began in the early 90s as a Navy Diver in the Portuguese Navy. After leaving the Navy, he spent nearly 20 years as a professional diver and trained in Saturation Diving in Brazil in 2001. In 2003, he moved to the Azores to become a diving instructor. He transitioned to whale watching in 2010 as a skipper and joined our team in 2017. Along with his passion for the sea, he loves photographing wildlife.

Natália’s experience is primarily in the hospitality industry, where she honed her skills in administration and accounting. In recent years, she has been part of the Futurismo team, where she continues to excel in these areas. Known for her strong work ethic and attention to detail, Natália plays a crucial role in the company’s operations. Outside of work, she loves to travel, which fuels her passion for exploring new places and cultures.

Introducing Carlos Picanço, the accomplished Sales, Marketing and Impact Director at Futurismo. With a profound background in crafting compelling marketing strategies and driving sales growth, Carlos’ expertise lies in his ability to seamlessly blend creativity with strategic thinking. His innovative campaigns and customer-centric approach have propelled the company to the forefront of the adventure tourism market in the Azores.
