01

Purpose-Driven Company

Since the beginning of our Project, we have been heavily involved with the preservation and promotion of our Region, accordingly to our objective of creating value and bringing prosperity to the Azores and the Azoreans, decisively contributing to the qualification and valorization of tourism in the Azores tourism, through science, education, culture, and sharing, aiming to create memories and impact travelers, in perfect respect for our land and our people.

02

Family-Owned, Independent Company

We started out as a family-owned company and despite having grown, we keep being a family-owned company, always with the same general manager in charge. We keep faithful to the values that were the cornerstone of our foundation.

03

30+ years of experience

With more than 30 years, of existence, we are one of the most experienced companies in the whole Azores Islands, and the first whale and dolphin watching company in São Miguel.

04

Pioneers and Leaders

We have pioneered nature-based adventure travel in the Azores and have been leading the way for several decades, striving to keep helping the Azores take the right path in tourism.

05

A One-Stop Company

From half-day tours to detailed itineraries. with our DMC work, we have you covered in the Azores. We offer a diverse range of possibilities both for direct clients and for businesses promoting our islands.

06

The Art of Hosting

In the beginning, there was passion! And it still lives on! Bigger and bigger. We are made of people who are hardwired to care for others. Who are passionate about our land, our people, and our nature, and that show that when they are sharing those with our guests. Of course, we train our staff continuously and they know about history and stories, fauna, flora, and culture, but passion is the centerpiece of our project. Because when we´re having fun, you´ll have fun.

07

Science Meets Tourism

During all our tours at sea, we collect scientific data that we will, later on, analyze and share with researchers from all over the world. The investigation that we do in the field is very important worldwide to better understand the behavior and territorial patterns of whales, dolphins, and all kinds of marine life.

08

Responsible Whale Watching

If you care about nature as much as we do, then we are made to be together, during a responsible and fun experience. We have been certified by the World Cetacean Alliance – the biggest organization for the protection of cetaceans worldwide – as a responsible whale watching company. We love our wild animals and we respect them, thanks to a strict code of conduct to approaching whales. Our skippers have years of experience and we always evaluate the behavior of the animals. If they don’t feel comfortable with our presence, we will leave them alone.

09

100% Guarantee of Seeing a Cetacean

During all our tours at sea, we collect scientific data that we will, later on, analyze and share with researchers from all over the world. The investigation that we do in the field is very important worldwide to better understand the behavior and territorial patterns of whales, dolphins, and all kinds of marine life.

10

Proudly Azorean Local Experts!

We’re based in Ponta Delgada, with a presence also in Pico, and our team is made up of people who live, breathe, eat and sleep in the Azores. This is our home and we are eager to share it with the world. We have the contacts and the knowledge of our islands, people, and places. We have amazing connections across the islands and are totally in tune with the best experiences throughout. Our team always has the phone number and the friendship of that person that will add the extra touch to an experience!

11

“Glocal” Nature of Our Staff

Since the very beginning, our project has always opened its doors to the World, trying to embrace others and improve our way through sharing. We´re proudly Azoreans by birth or by heart, having collaborators from several Azorean islands, Portugal mainland, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and so many other countries.

12

Empowering the Local Community

When faced with COVID, we placed 12 persons in a permanent contract with us. We´re a team of 60 persons, full-time, year-round, in a sign that tourism has to protect and be good for our community, above everything else. Having our team year-round allows us to achieve higher levels of service and a great standard of operations.

13

Give Back to Our Community

Our success is shared with our community through educational activities in our facilities, collaboration with social institutions and schools, sports clubs or programs that we sponsor and create, like the Guardians of the Azores.

14

Local Recognition

Through the years our Project has been recognized for the way defend our local relations and the seriousness with which we do business, being awarded with awards such as SME Leader and SME Excellence, by official institutes, as well as being invited to partner with several local events.

15

High-Quality Experiences

Our main goal at Futurismo Azores Adventures is to offer our travelers the best experiences surrounded by our magnificent people, incredible landscapes, and wild animals. We want you to spend an amazing time in the company of knowledgeable guides and to love our islands. That is our special mission and we work hard to provide special moments and unforgettable sensations. Sharing our passion with you is a privilege for us, bringing emotions that will make you want to return to the Azores Islands to discover more.

16

Educative Experiences

For sure, you will have a great time filled with laughter, wonder, and awesomeness with us. But you will also learn a lot about the Azores thanks to our knowledgeable guides and educative material such as illustrated catalogs, posters, maps, and other items with lots of details about our nature. Thanks to our ongoing scientific research, we have so many interesting things to show you, that you cannot have access to anywhere else.

17

Great Interpreters to Host You

When you go on a sea tour with us, our guides are actually professional marine biologists who know what they are talking about. They know everything about cetaceans and have so much knowledge to share with you. Our experienced guides on land are experts in the environment, culture, geology, and history of our islands. If you want to know more about the Azores, they are the ones you should speak to. Throughout the year they undergo internal and external continuous training to improve our experiences.

18

An Orchestra of Professionals

Sometimes we may be out of tune, but that´s the exception that confirms the rule. This is a well-tuned orchestra of 60 persons with different missions! We are marine biologists, travel designers, land guides, lookouts, sales, mechanics, maintenance and cleaning, logístics and planning, marketing, content, photo and video, drivers, and much more.

19

Highly Qualified and Experienced Staff

More than half of our staff has higher degree education, including masters. The fun part of this is that in several cases, those masters were done with data from our scientific work. Besides, we have skippers, guides, and lookouts with decades of experience, in a great mix where youth and experience walk together.

20

Flexibility and Problem Solving

Our team knows how to design and operate amazing experiences but we encourage you to make them your own, going private, if that is what you want We offer a range of activity levels and experience types, from our weekly structure to on-request ones, allowing you to choose the one that favors you best. Whenever problems arise, and they will in the North Atlantic, we put on all of our efforts to tackle them. With our own staff and fleet, it´s always easier for us.

21

Rigorous Planning

Time is something precious and memories are built when we feel safe and in a flow. All of our experiences are planned and scripted, with due safety and risk analysis made to ensure the interpretation and the ideas we want to give you are done in perfect safety. Through the low season, we take our time to ensure we tend to details that can be changed to continuously improve our experiences.

22

We Speak Your Language

Our sea and land staff come from all around the globe. We probably speak your language or at least a language you can understand. We can provide most of our services in Portuguese, English, French, German, Spanish, and many other languages. Ask us when you book the tour if we have a guide who speaks your language so that we can better be prepared to offer you a great and personalized experience.

23

Our Own Fleet! Equipment Diversity

Do you prefer an extreme adventure or a cozy one? At Futurismo, we have all kinds of land and sea fleets so we can fulfill everyone’s needs, from the youngest age to elderly people. On land, enjoy a comfy ride in a stable van with all the equipment needed to relax and have great vacations, or opt for one of our fierce 4WD jeeps for river crossing and dirt roads. At sea, we have our spacious catamarans where you can sit inside if it is too cold for you outside or you can walk freely around the deck. On our speedy zodiac boats, we are closer to the water and arrive first at the whales. Prepare to have a bumpy ride and get some splashes.

24

An Experience for All

At Futurismo, we believe that Less is More. In that sense, less people is more intimate and you will enjoy more your experience in the Azores. We want to give you an almost private and down-to-earth adventure. Forget big buses full of people for sightseeing tours, we prefer our small vans and jeeps. At sea, you can choose between our big catamarans, accessible for all, or our small zodiac boats where only a few people can come on board. Enjoy your vacations in the Azores with us in a relaxed yet fun way.

25

Experiences for Everyone

Experiences are personal and subjective. They can be lived alone, in small groups, with family, with friends, with new friends, or among other travelers. On sea or on land, gazing at different landscapes, heritage, and cultural elements. Through our islands, we take pride on trying to have an experience to impact everyone.

Intense in knowledge transmission. They excel in animal tracking with non-intrusive methods. I had an amazing, unexpected experience. Wonderful. They teach the importance of caring for and respecting our seas and oceans, which is crucial.

Alba Moreno Ruiz, Spain

Exciting excursion, friendly and knowledgeable staff, not too crowded catamaran. We saw two different species of dolphins and a sperm whale with its calf. Thanks for the wonderful experience!

Donatella Fracassi, Italy

A magical moment! We were able to easily see and interact with the dolphins. There was only our boat with 8 swimmers in total, making it even more enjoyable – a special time with the dolphins. Very clear explanations and a guide who listened and was very pleasant. We will be back 👍

Manuel Fernandez, France

During our vacation, we enjoyed both stand-up paddle and kayaking, resulting in an unforgettable experience. The staff were all incredibly friendly. They recommended restaurants after the activity with a personal touch. 100% recommended.

Andrea Jaramillo Lopez, Spain

An outstanding experience. The marine biologist and the driver were both incredibly passionate. We saw 2 dolphins and 2 sperm whales that dived. An unforgettable memory under perfect weather. Thank you for all these unforgettable moments.

Magali Loriot, France

It’s impressive that we haven’t found anybody during our walking tour. It was amazing the communion with nature. It feels that nature is still untouched.

Sievers, Poland
