Covid-19 in the Azores: Overview
Now, in the Azores, we have 167 (- 80 from last week) active cases.
As of now, in October 2022, in the Azores, the prophylactic isolation of positive cases is no longer mandatory.
A person infected with Covid 19 can now leave home, go about their normal life, and not stay in isolation for five days.
Trips to the Azores
- All passengers traveling to the Azores on domestic (national) flights, on direct international flights or from outside the EU do not have public health control measures upon arrival.
- So, to travel to the Azores you no longer need to present a digital certificate or a Covid test.
On international flights to Portugal
- Passengers from the EU no longer need to present a digital certificate or a Covid test.

What are the safety rules when traveling to the Azores?
- Mandatory use of masks only in health-related places and where this is determined by the Regional Health Directorate.
- No longer limitation of groups in public areas and in restaurants;

Restrictions in the Azores
- The use of masks or visors is also no longer mandatory in the Azores. The exception only applies in nursing homes and healthcare.
- There are no more capacity limits in establishments and other places open to the public
- A negative test is also no longer required for access to major events, sports venues, bars, and clubs

There are daily flights from Lisbon and Porto, new direct flights to come in May (Paris, London, Toronto, Boston, Oakland,…). United Airlines, for example, starts weekly connections between New York and Ponta Delgada this month of May until the end of September.
