You could also grab a taxi, although there are not so many taxis, mostly in the summer when it is busy.
Another option would be to hike to Fajã do Ouvidor. This is possible with the trail that goes from Pico da Esperança, the highest point of the island at 1053 meters of altitude, towards the fajã. It is quite a big hike of 17 kilometers long one way, so you will definitely need some way to go back to your car at Pico da Esperança or hike 34 kilometers. This hike is about 4 hours one way.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Fajã do Ouvidor is absolutely during the late spring and summer months, from May to September. During this period, the weather is warmer, and the seas are calmer than in the fall and winter, making it ideal for swimming at the iconic swimming pools.
However, keep in mind that in July and August, you will certainly not have the pool to yourself as many tourists are coming to the island at that time of the year.
